First Discoveries

This series appeared long before I decided to become an artist. When I was a child, my grandmother was preparing an exhibition dedicated to her uncle, the archaeologist Evgeny Yakovlev, who lived and worked as an archaeologist in Latin America for many years. She told us stories about distant countries, expeditions, animals and nature, and showed us his drawings. These stories so enchanted me and my cousin that we decided to create works of our own. Today I look at them differently. For me they are not just children's drawings but the first works in which the wish appeared to tell stories through art and to create worlds of my own. That is why they hold a special place in my archive.
